Iroquois, Canada
Unlike the Lost Villages, which disappeared off the map altogether, the old town of Iroquois (pictured here in 1955) was moved about a mile inland after the construction of Moses-Saunders Power Dam. The town got its name from the nearby Iroquois Point, which had been a seasonal settlement of the Haudenosaunee people (historically known as the Iroquois) for generations by the time Europeans arrived in the area.
