Waboose Control Dam
The Waboose Control Dam is a key part of the Ogoki River Diversion Project. The project redirected part of the Ogoki River to drain into the Lake Superior Basin rather than the Hudson Bay watershed. This was done to maximize hydropower for the increased industrial activities of World War II. Amazingly, diversions of Canadian rivers from the Hudson Bay watershed raised the average height of Lake Superior by 2.1 centimeters.
