Kenney Dam

Kenney Dam was built by the Aluminum Company of Canada (Alcan) to supply power for a large aluminum smelting plant, but the dam itself was ultimately not used for this purpose. Instead, water was diverted upstream to an underwater tunnel which carried it to Kemano Generating Station. Kenney Dam and the Nechako Reservoir displaced the Cheslatta Carrier First Nation, which had lived in the area for 10,000 years.
