Mangla Dam - Displaced People

Mangla Dam - Displaced People

Mangla Dam displaced about 110,000 people in 1967. It was built in the disputed region of Azad Kashmir, Pakistan, and many of the residents of the region were Hindus and Sikhs who had already been displaced due to the 1947 partition of India. A majority of those displaced immigrated to the United Kingdom. (Pictured: an abandoned mosque near Mangla Dam.)
