Kaptai Dam - Displaced People
The Kaptai Dam displaced more than 100,000 people, most of whom were Jumma Peoples living in the region. The eleven Indigenous groups who collectively identify as the Jumma Peoples are: the Chakma, Marma, Tripura, Tanchangya, Murung, Lushai, Khumi, Chak, Khyang, Bawm, and Pankhua. Their homeland is the Chittagong Hill Tracts region of Bangladesh, from which 25% of the Jumma Peoples were displaced due to Kaptai Dam. (Pictured: Chakma Raja Home in 1962.
