Norway House Cree Nation
The Norway House Cree Nation (Swampy Cree: ᑭᓄᓭᐏ ᓰᐱᐩ) was one of the original signatories to Treaty 5 in 1875. The First Nation has recently filed a suit with federal and provincial governments, and Manitoba Hydro, which asserts that the Lake Winnipeg Regulation has caused them "irreparable harm" and that the large hydro projects of the region have been "almost entirely for the benefit of non-Indigenous populations" (Photo credit: Norway House Cree Nation)
