San José de Gracia, Mexico
San José de Gracia was founded in 1675 by a group of Indigenous men at the invitation of a widow named Martha, who owned the land the town was established on. Just over 250 years later, Plutarco Elías Calles Dam displaced San José de Gracia's residents and forced them to relocate their town site.
