Pinaymootang First Nation, Canada

Members of the Pinaymootang First Nation (also known as the Fairford First Nation) were displaced from their homes in 2011 after the Government of Manitoba intentionally diverted water from the Assiniboine River. This action was intended to spare Winnipeg and other upstream communities from flooding, but many downstream First Nations were flooded in turn.
