Little Saskatchewan First Nation, Canada

Little Saskatchewan First Nation, Canada

Little Saskatchewan First Nation (Ojibwe: Kaakiiskakamigaag) was displaced by the diversion of water during the 2011 Assiniboine River flood. Although the historic flood event occurred decades after the constructions of the Portage Diversion, the Fairford River Control Structure, and the Shellmouth Dam, each of these structures facilitated the intentional flooding of Little Saskatchewan in order to spare larger upstream communities of the worst damage.
