Additional People Displaced by Kainji Dam
The construction of Kainji Dam displaced about 44,000 people between 1964 and 1968. About 3,000 of the displaced people lived in the ancient town of Bussa, but another 41,000 came from as many as 239 smaller settlements along the Niger River.
