The Kedung Ombo Dam displaced around 24, which ruled in favor of the displaced people in 1993 before cancelling their ruling in 1994., 000 people from thirty-seven villages. The dam was very controversial, and many villages refused to leave their homes even as they began to flood (pictured). Eight people drowned due to the inundation.
