Hetch Hetchy Valley, California
Hetch Hetchy Valley was home to Indigenous people for at least 6000 years before white settlers arrived in the 1850s to mine gold and ranch on the land. O'Shaugnessy Dam inundated Indigenous burials, sacred sites, village sites, and grazing and harvesting ground.
