Crystal Springs, California

In the mid-nineteenth century, well-heeled San Franciscans visited the village of Crystal Springs for rest and relaxation. In addition to resort hotels, Crystal Springs was home to farms and a dairy. The Spring Valley Water Company bought out residents in the 1870s to make way for Crystal Springs Reservoir.
