People Displaced by the Kotmale Dam
About 3,000 households were forced to relocate when the Kotmale Dam was constructed. The reservoir also submerged dozens of places of religious significance, including the Buddhist temple, Kadadora Vihara (pictured), which is only visible during periods of drought.
