Hasankeyf, Türkiye
The ancient city of Hansankeyf was displaced by the Ilisu Dam. The city had been inhabited for over 12,000 years when it was moved in 2019 to make way for the reservoir. Some important cultural sites were moved to the new townsite across the river, like the Artuklu Hamam (pictured), an ancient bathhouse. Nearly 200 additional small villages and towns were also displaced by the dam.
