North Fork Town, Oklahoma
North Fork Town was founded by the Creek in the 1830s and was the site of many inter-tribal councils. It later became a resupply point for forty-niners headed to the California gold fields and a Confederate supply base during the Civil War. The town was abandoned when the railroad bypassed it in the 1870s. Lake Eufaula submerged the remaining homes and a cemetery in 1964.
