Nishu, North Dakota
The Arikara Congregational Church in Nishu. Nishu, established by the Arikara in the 1890s, was a vibrant community where neighbors looked out for one another, and helped each other with gardening, cattle raising, and other subsistence activities. The Arikara tradition of corn agriculture was central to life in the town.
