Zhongxian, China
Zhongxian County, often called Zhong, lies in China’s Chongqing Municipality. About 30 miles from the city center stands Shibaozhai, one of the region’s most famous historic sites. When rising waters from the Three Gorges Dam threatened the area, a protective wall was built around Shibaozhai, preserving it as an island while the nearby Shibao Block was inundated.
