Burton, Georgia
Burton General Store. Burton Dam inundated the town in 1919. Scots-Irish immigrants settled Burton, the main town of the Tallulah Valley, in the early 1800s. While farming was Burton's primary industry, the town also included sawmills, as well as gold mining and moonshining operations. The community's social life centered around gospel singing conventions.
