Brown's Station, New York
Before the Ashokan Reservoir was built, the hamlet of Brown's Station included a railroad depot, post office, school, telegraph office, and store. During construction, Brown's Station became a headquarters for the New York City Board of Water Supply. Ashokan Reservoir displaced 2000 residents in total, who were spread out between multiple small communities.
