Jindabyne, Australia
White settlers arrived in Jindabyne, originally home to Ngarigo people, in the 1840s. Jindabyne's early economy was driven by a gold rush at nearby Crackenback, and it soon grew into a bustling village. The town relocated prior to its 1967 inundation as part of the Snowy Scheme, Australia's largest irrigation and hydroelectric project.
