Scoggins Valley, Oregon
Settlers arrived in Scoggins Valley, where they established some of Oregon’s first commercial farms, in the 1830s. Crops included onions, hazelnuts, tree fruits, and berries. When the US Bureau of Reclamation built Scoggins Dam in the 1970s to provide irrigation and drinking water to nearby residents, they flooded part of the valley. Henry Hagg Lake submerged Forest Dale School, a log church, and many private residences.
