Moncton/Cedar Falls, Washington
In 1906, Moncton was established along the Chicago, Milwaukee, and St. Paul Railway line a half mile north of Cedar Falls. Residents included loggers, railroad workers, and employees of the Seattle Water Department, which operated a reservoir nearby. Although Moncton officially became part of Cedar Falls in 1912, many in the community continued to call it by its original name. At its height, the town included a K-8 school, swimming pool, hotel, saloon, restaurant, and a handful of other businesses. Moncton was condemned by the City of Seattle after seepage from a nearby masonry dam slowly inundated the town in 1915.
