Dent, Idaho
In this 1970 letter—likely written to Orofino mayor Bert Curtis—Ruby Verge discusses the community of Dent, Idaho. Katherine and Charles Dent established the town in 1895, and shortly thereafter built a traveler’s rest. Charles also started a blacksmith shop and tavern, and Katherine ran the local post office after it opened in 1905. As other settlers arrived in Dent, the community grew, and it even had its own school. Dworshak Dam submerged the town site in the 1970s.
