Caption reads: "The Dalles dam in this aerial photo of the corps of engineers is shown getting its 'feet' wet in Columbia river. Main channel of river through rocky islands of Indian fishing grounds will be closed in last major construction contract. At extreme right is entrance to Celilo canal, which will be flooded. Slackwater for river transportation will be provided by pool to site of John Day dam. Contracts have already been let to provide new tracks for railroads."
